Mayank Yadav Biography | The Future Bowling Star of India

Mayank Yadav is an Indian cricketer who pays for Delhi and in IPL for Lucknow super giants. In IPL 2024, he surprised everyone with his shear pace and lethal line and length. No wonder he will be the upcoming star for the Indian cricket team if he develops his skills in the right way.

Early Childhood and family:

Mayank Yadav was born on 17 June 2002 in Bihar. Later, his parents moved to New Delhi. He lived with his parents and an elder sister in Moti Nagar area of New Delhi. His nick name is ‘Minty’. During his childhood, his friends used to call him ‘sar pe marne wala bowler (One who hits on the head) as he hit their heads with bouncers.

His father Prabhu Yadav wanted him to pursue as a cricketer. He used to tell anecdotes to him about Curtley Ambrose, who considered him the most lethal and dangerous bowler. He wanted Mayank to become a bowler like Ambrose. But he idolizes Dale Steyn for his bowling.

In an interview at Jio Cinema Mayank said: “My father liked fast bowlers a lot. When I was a child, he would show me when Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Mitchell Johnson was bowling. The one thing I liked very much was when the batter was hit on the body or helmet – that inspired me to take up fast bowling.”.

Journey from Sonnet cricket club to Lucknow Super giants:

Mayank started taking coaching from Sonnet cricket club under the mentorship of late Tarak Sinha. Coach Sinha also mentored Rishabh Pant to get into Indian cricket team. After Tarak Sinha, Devender Sharma guided him and honed his skills to become a dangerous bowler.

He did not play Under-14, Under-16 for Delhi and rose to higher levels very quickly. In 2021, Vijay Dahiya coach of UP and talent scout for Lucknow super giants observed him during practice session. He recommended the giants’ management team to buy Mayank Yadav in IPL auction. In IPL 2022, Mayank was picked by LSG for the base price of 20 lakhs.

IPL debut in 2024 against Punjab Kings:

Mayank journey to IPL 2024 has not been easy. He is prone to many injuries. He was about to make debut in IPL 2023 but later he was injured in practice session. He was out of IPL for the entire season. He went through rehabilitation in Mumbai with support from super giants.

In 2024, he debuted against Punjab kings in Lucknow. He shocked the world with his speed and accurate line and length. Many international players were struggling against him in the match. In 4 overs spell, he conceded 27 runs and took 3 very important wickets. He was man of the match as well for his performance.

Future of Mayank Yadav:

Mayank Yadav future is very bright. He has been on the radar for National selectors for some time. He was about to get call for test series against England, but he got injured in a domestic game.
